Driving at night is an extremely challenging task, but operating a vessel during the night time is an entirely different thing. Lack of skills can result in accidents, but even years of boating experience don’t mean anything when the boat isn’t equipped with the basic safety devices – most importantly, navigation lights. With a set of navigation lights you can extend your marine fun to nighttime, when nothing looks the way it does during the day.
Installation of navigation lights on boats is required by international regulations, so there is no way to bypass this rule. However, every boater already knows how essential navigation lighting systems are to normal operation of a boat. Having equipped your vessel with the necessary navigation lights, you can spend time on boat during sunrise and sunset, when visibility on water is especially restricted. Additionally, high quality navigation lights provide extra security and visibility in bad weather conditions: fog, rain, storm, etc. Basic navigation light rules determine which units should be used on each type of boat.
The purpose of navigation lights on a boat is to signal your boat’s position and relative angle to other vessels. This helps other boaters assess the probability of collision and take appropriate measures, and this is why the issue of navigation lights shouldn’t be taken lightly. To choose the most reliable lighting system for your boat, you need to consider a few factors. Special attention should be paid to the manufacturer – only reputable manufacturers can be trusted. That's what we provide you with: reliable navigation lights by Edson, Lumitec, Perko, Seaview, Lunasea Lighting, etc.
Boat navigation lights typically come in white, green, and red color varieties. The placement pattern of navigation lights varies from one vessel type to another, but usually a green light is installed on the starboard side, a red light is placed on the port side, and a white light can mostly be found at the rear. However, if you own a power-driven vessel, make sure to add one or two white masthead lights, depending on the masthead height. If your usual boating area is generally crowded, it might be a good idea to equip your boat with yellow flashing beacons that can be used throughout the night and day.
