Exhaust tips for boats are often designed to be aesthetically-pleasing, but they aren’t there just for show. They are functional components that feature important elements such as flappers or silencers. A flapper is an ingeniously simple component that acts as a one-way valve. It has a stainless steel or rubber petal that doesn’t let surges of water get into the exhaust line and into the engine, where it can cause massive or irreparable damage. Flappers wear out over time or get damaged due to overheating.
It’s also possible to add a slip-in baffle to some exhaust tips, which will act as a muffler reducing engine noise. In our selection of boat exhaust tips, you’ll find muffler silencers that will keep your boat’s decibel output within legally-required limits while maintaining optimal flow and power. We also have turn-down tips that make the exhaust exit underwater to muffle the noise at idle without any power loss.
