Boat Chocks
High-quality, correctly-positioned boat chocks help create a safe and secure anchoring setup. Chafe abrasion can eventually damage your boat's gelcoat and cause excess wear of the lines. Severe chafe can break the ropes in a matter of hours. It's easier to prevent this than deal with the consequences, and good chocks are there to help. They guide the lines while reducing the risk of rubbing to a minimum. It's a good idea to run the ropes through the chocks before tying up at the dock. It's best that the chocks be installed as close to the cleats as possible.
Poor-quality chocks, however, may be a source of chafing by themselves. They must have smooth, well-rounded edges without any sharp corners and burrs that can potentially damage the line. You can use chafing gear at the point of contact for added protection to the rope. We carry a wide selection of durable, well-made chocks that will safely lead your lines without causing wear on them. They are made from marine-grade materials to hold up to the weather, water, and salt, looking great on your boat year after year. These include stainless steel and nylon, as well as zinc, brass, and bronze plated in chrome.
