The history of Rule Marine Inc. started more than half a century ago in Beverley Farms, Massachusetts. The company was established by a talented engineer and inventor, Clinton Rule, whose struggle with a leaky boat inspired him to create a new design of the bilge pump. It proved to be successful, and gradually, Rule pumps became highly popular in the United States and abroad. In the 1970s, the company expanded its business and began to manufacture other marine products – anchors, paints, saws, and various electronics. In 1998, it was acquired by ITT Industries and joined the numerous brands of this industrial giant.
These days, Rule is part of Xylem Inc., an American company that was founded in 2011 as the spinoff of the water-related businesses of ITT. Meanwhile, the goods by Rule are still rather popular on the recreational and small commercial boat markets. The company’s assortment includes submersible bilge pumps, livewell pumps, 3-way panel switches, portable aerator kits, removable motor cartridges, and related fittings.
