Boat Mooring Whips

When investing in a vessel, you certainly want to retain its good condition for longer. After all, it does cost a pretty penny. Mooring whips are a sure way to protect your investment from seawall and dockside damage when it is not in use, especially when a boat lift is not an option. They are designed to keep a vessel securely in place preventing it from being tossed and crashed against a dock by large wakes, waves, or wind. Their construction is pretty easy. They consist of two large poles typically made from fiberglass and nylon lines that connect them to a boat in a specific way.

There are also whip systems that have steel arms and a steel base. Whatever the material, those poles are mounted to the dock at a particular angle. Some models come with specially designed rocker arm bases which allow for setting them in a vertical position when they are not in use. Because of their construction, they can be mistaken for fishing poles. Whips vary in length to meet the varying needs of boaters. To choose the right system for your vessel, you should consider its length and weight. Other good news about these products is that they require little to no maintenance: lines are recommended to be replaced once in a couple of years, while poles should be waxed once in a while.
