Marine Depth Finders

Marine Depth Finders

Knowing the depth of water under the vessel is crucial for safe navigation, good fishing, scientific research, and some other purposes. Today, the market offers a variety of instruments showing the necessary information, including marine depth finders. These relatively simple electronic devices are quite popular among boat owners and anglers. Based on tried-and-tested sonar technology, modern depth finders use advanced algorithms to determine the actual depth with the highest possible accuracy, and their operating range can be 200, 300, or even 600 feet in some models.

Most of them work in tandem with transducers that emit sound waves of a certain frequency, but there are also handheld models with build-in transducers, which can be more convenient when you're floating on a kayak or going to fish on ice. Separate transducers are meant mainly for boats and can be mounted on the transom or other part of the hull. Besides just displaying depth, some models can also show air and/or water temperature and have a so-called alarm mode warning you about shallow or too deep water zones. If you need an aesthetic solution that would match your boat's design, you can choose from gauges with different replaceable bezels.
