Boat Thrusters

A thruster is an additional piece of propulsion equipment that provides maneuvering assistance during the slow movement of a vessel, which allows for more control while docking. On some boats, having a bow thruster is enough to help with positioning, while others feature another one located in the stern. This propulsion device is basically a motor-driven propeller typically placed in a through-and-through tunnel below the waterline. It draws in water from one side of a vessel and moves it to the other side by means of a suction force, aiding in turning a vessel to port or starboard. Some crafts are fitted with an external or retractable thruster.

Such equipment is of great help for both novice and experienced boaters. It increases maneuverability and allows for greater ease of positioning a boat in tough conditions, such as strong winds and currents, tight docking areas, etc. Many of the modern boats measuring over 45 feet in length feature a bow thruster as standard equipment, and most mid-size boats can be retrofitted. If you plan to add a thruster to your craft or need replacement parts for a boat already so equipped, we have you covered.
