Skeg Protectors

Your inboard or outboard motor’s skeg is susceptible to damage from ramps, rocks, debris, and other hazards. A broken lower unit can affect steering and motor performance. A skeg protector is designed to prevent damage to your stern drive or outboard saving you from costly replacement or welding and can also be used for repairing an already broken lower edge. It slides over your existing skeg, covering up a damaged unit or protecting a new one. There need to be at least two inches of skeg available for mounting a protector.

Skeg guards are typically manufactured from marine-grade stainless steel to be able to handle impacts and last in corrosive environments. They feature drain holes to allow water to escape, preventing biogrowth and oxidation. The installation is a snap and doesn’t require any special tools. You only need to slip the protector over the skeg, tap it into place, drill two holes, and secure it with the supplied stainless steel bolts. The whole process takes about 10 minutes.
