Raymarine E70328 Review
When I ordered this controller, I asked if it was compatible with my older Smartpilot autopilot. I asked if there were any adapters needed. I was referred to the Raymarine site. It was not clear whether or not an adapter was needed. I ordered the part as I was told by a Raymarine tech in Nashua NH that was what I needed after he bench tested my older course computer and said that it was fine. Waited for the E70328 which was shipped to a general delivery address near where I was anchored. It was about to be shipped back since Post Office would not sign for a Fedex delivery. I managed to intercept it but when I opened the box, it was obvious that an adaptor cable would be needed. I called the Raymarine Factory Outlet Store and they told me an adapter cable was needed, I ordered it. During the setup I accidentally hit french ( my bad ). Tried the unit and it gave me the same error messages as my original controller. So the tech at Raymarine was wrong and since they don?t fix the older autopilot computers, I need to buy the whole works which comes as a package. That means I will have an extra controller that I don't need. This was a very time consuming and frustrating process. I guess I will be stuck ordering a new autopilot setup for $2500 to $3000. Thanks everybody.
