With a success story that dates back to 1907, Perko is a force to be reckoned with in the marine industry. Since Frederick Persky began operating a lantern manufacturing company in the early 1900s, which evolved into Perkins Marine Lamp Corporation in a few years, the business has been privately owned and run by the Perkins family. Just like a century ago, the modern line of marine products made by the company includes Perko navigation lights, ventilators, and hardware. Its production techniques and materials get more advanced; what remains unchanged is a commitment to quality and attention to detail.
Everything that the company offers, from simple products like Perko latches and locks all the way up to fuel system parts and many types of marine lights, is produced in house, in its own 425,000 square feet facilities based in Miami, Florida. Perko’s extensive manufacturing capabilities allow for almost complete independence from outside suppliers, except for some minor components like bulbs and wiring. Perko has a proprietary bronze plant making it the only American die-cast bronze parts maker which operates in the marine industry.
In-house sand casting foundries, injection molding and plating facilities, forming tools, machine shops, etc. allow for complete control over each stage of the process. In 1994, Perko obtained ISO certification. Its products adhere to many other strict standards, including but not limited to USCG, UL, and NMMA. Perko switches are CE approved, UL certified, and ignition protected, which means they are reliable and safe to use. Perko has its own quality assurance requirements that its goods must comply with along with industry standards. Every product is visually evaluated and thoroughly tested for safe and dependable operation, so customers can be sure everything they get is 100% tried and true.
