Fishing Outriggers

Outriggers

Outriggers look like long antennas positioned on the boat's sides and are used on many off-shore boats for a certain kind of fishing when the trolling area needs to be widened. Unlike short downriggers meant for angling in deep water, outriggers are suitable for species found close to the water surface, and their length can range from 8 to more than 30 feet approximately. There are foldable telescopic and one-piece outrigger poles with a fixed length; the former are more versatile, while the latter tend to be somewhat stronger and more suitable for heavy-duty fishing.

The material of poles also matters: aluminum ones are usually stiffer and heavier than their carbon fiber counterparts. In many long models, you can see short perpendicular bars added for even higher stiffness and called spreaders. In our online store, you can find a large assortment of outrigger poles available in different types and lengths. Besides, we carry complete outrigger kits, separate holders, and backing plates by Taco, Tigress, and other brands. The holders can be mounted on the gunwale, deck, or cabin, and you can choose from adjustable, flush, clamp-on, and some other mounting options depending on your pole and boat design.
