Marine batteries can get electricity from an alternator or charger. The latter doesn't rely on a running engine and is sometimes combined with an inverter in a single device providing you with a source of AC current for a laptop, TV, or other equipment. It's generally recommended to choose a charger whose rated amperage is about 10 or 15 percent of the combined batteries' capacity measured in ampere-hours.
