HawkEye Marine Electronics
Echo-sounders appeared more than a century ago and opened up a bunch of new opportunities for marine navigation. Besides, the early systems were used for scientific, research, and military purposes. These days, thanks to microprocessor and LCD technologies, compact sonar-based devices have also got very popular among boaters and anglers, and HawkEye Electronics is one of the leading manufacturers of such equipment. Developed with fishing needs in mind, HawkEye fish finders incorporate the most effective features necessary to find fish, learn the depth, and get some other information.
The FishTrax fish finder is a rather functional device. With the touch of a button, it shows fish (if it's there), bottom contour, depth, and even water temperature. Each model of this series features an anti-glare HD color or DOT matrix display, waterproof housing, and floatable HawkEye transducer that can be mounted on the boat's hull. The device itself can easily be installed on any fishing platform with the help of the brand's TraxNut system which can be adapted to boats, canoes, kayaks, etc.
The fish finder is powered by AAA batteries that can last up to 30 hours in work mode, or you can buy an optional FishTrax boat-mounted power adapter to get energy from a 12-volt power source. If you want to know the depth only, a mountable or handheld HawkEye depth finder can be a more suitable solution. Like fish finders, mountable models also come with an anti-glare screen and separate transducer, but they are not designed to show the bottom contour or temperature. However, this compact device provides accurate depth readings that get updated several times per second. Meanwhile, if you're going to use it on a kayak or just in an ice hole, it makes sense to choose a handheld model with a built-in transducer able to show a depth of up to 300 feet.
