As the name implies, marine fuel pumps are responsible for supplying gas or diesel to the vessel's engine or other equipment such as a marine generator set. Unlike the submersible models used in most cars and located right in the tank, those installed in boats are mainly in-line or mounted on the engine. They can be mechanical or electric. Installed in many older boats, the former are commonly driven by the camshaft via the lever or other mechanism. The electric pumps are more up-to-date and capable of creating higher pressure. They mainly work with injection systems, and in some cases, these parts can be used as an upgrade instead of their mechanical counterparts.

As for modern outboard motors, they usually have two fuel pumps, for creating low and high pressure. The first one draws hydrocarbons from the tank and sends them toward the motor. The second one is known as the VST pump, and it's responsible for creating sufficient pressure in the rail. Respectively, there are two filters installed before each pump, the primary and secondary one, which are needed to trap various contaminants. If you've faced any issues with your vessel's fuel pump, you can choose the new one in our online store.
