Bazooka (previously known as SAS) opened in 1983 as a manufacturer of home audio loudspeakers. But it wasn't long before the president of SAS Jon Jordan realized that the company wouldn't survive unless it could offer something new to the market. That's when SAS home audio speakers were marketed throughout the Southeast United States. Though they were good ones, they were destined to fail in the highly saturated home audio market.

Despite a failure on the home audio market, J.Jordan set out to find a niche for SAS. Through the process of experimentation – the Bazooka subwoofer speaker system saw the world. Not only the it became the cornerstone product of SAS, it also created an entirely new product category in the Consumer Electronics Industry. In such a way, with a patent on the Bass Tubes enclosure design and the Bazooka trade name, Jon Jordan laid the groundwork for the company's success.
