Apollo Marine Valves

Apollo Valves is a company with a long history and well-established reputation. It was started about a hundred years ago when two manufacturers of brass valves and fittings from Detroit formed Conbraco Industries, one of the leading American suppliers of flow control products. In 2005, all of its goods were put under the Apollo Valves brand, and in 2010, the company became part of Aalberts, an international group headquartered in the Netherlands. The group incorporates numerous research and production facilities, great scientific potential, and large experience in developing new products for aerospace, semiconductor, automotive, medical, defense, and some other industries.

Particularly, Aalberts designs numerous systems and parts for the regulation and distribution of gases and liquids, and today, many of them come from Apollo Valves allowing the group to expand its presence on the North American market. For boating needs, Apollo offers a large assortment of inline, seacock, shut-off, 3-way, and other valves along with various metal pipe fittings and adapters. Most valves by this trademark, which are meant for vessels, are made of bronze, while other models are manufactured from stainless steel. And actually, there is a strong reason why the company doesn't offer brass valves for marine use, although they are more affordable.

Consisting of zinc and copper, this alloy undergoes gradual dezincification when in contact with seawater. To put it simply, zinc is lost and copper is left, which leads to corrosion over time. In order to avoid catastrophic consequences, it's not recommended to install brass seacocks on marine vessels, and the same goes for underwater through-hull fittings made of this metal alloy. Aside from a bronze body, most valves by Apollo feature other advantages such as RPTFE seats, blowout-proof stem design, stainless steel lever, etc., which allows you to use them for water or fuel tank selection, oil transfer, or other purposes.
