Incorporating the latest achievements in chemistry, modern adhesives are very beneficial and complex products requiring some attention and care when you choose them. Selected properly, marine adhesives can save you a great deal of time and effort, while the wrong products (or improper technology of their application) are fraught with expensive repairs. The point is, adhesives greatly differ by their compounds that can be highly effective for gluing some materials but useless for others. Besides, there are differences in elasticity and resistance to water, and the market offers special products meant for use below the waterline and in places subject to deformation.
Apart from that, when choosing a sealant or other adhesive, consider their working time and temperature, along with the time needed for material preparation and full cure. For instance, an epoxy-based adhesive is a universal two-part system that can glue almost any material and can be applied underwater. However, it may need a longer cure time if compared, for instance, to the acrylic-based system. In some cases, this time is necessary to complete the job, but in many situations, maximum strength is expected somewhat sooner.
