Lopolight is a Danish company with headquarters and manufacturing facilities located in Humlebaek, north of Copenhagen. Lopolight navigation lights have been available to sailors since LED technology revolutionized the lighting world. The story began in 2001, when Peter Hancke created an LED stern light and a combined sidelight for his 10-meter boat competing in a 231 nautical mile Round Sealand Race. It was forbidden to charge batteries as the race was held so Peter developed the lights with low power consumption that didn't cause serious drains after being on for two nights.

A year later, Peter introduced his invention to Jan Moeller who was planning to sail singlehanded around the globe non-stop on his Open 40 sailboat. As a result, the tricolor light has not only survived the entire circumnavigation but turned out to be the only piece of equipment on board that remained in working condition after the sailboat was caught in the storm in the Southern Ocean. That was the foundation of the company. Today, it remains focused on nav lights and their control & monitoring, while also supplying its products to high-speed military yachts. Its LED lights comply with USCG safety regulations and are offered for a wide range of vessels, from leisure boats to super yachts to commercial vessels.
