Balmar is an American company whose name has been known in the marine industry for over 30 years. It specializes in manufacturing DC charging systems and battery monitors which can be found on many commercial boats, recreational yachts, and other vessels. In 2014, the company was acquired by CDI Electronics, an enterprise from Alabama that offers ignition and diagnostic solutions for marine powerplants. Today, Balmar keeps on developing and introducing new products with improved characteristics.
There are several series of Balmar alternatorsalternators that differ in power and include the 6-Series, AT and XT lineups, 94 series, and some others. Most of them have a compact, marine-friendly case and come with a bunch of interesting features aimed at higher efficiency, for instance, a hairpin-wound stator design with 96 slots instead of 36 found in a traditional S-wound stator. Patented Smart Ready internal regulator technology is another advantage of Balmar alternators, which enables the built-in voltage regulator to better cope with some loads that would require a more capable external device.
Anyway, the company carries a variety of alternator and external regulator kits that raise charging effectiveness and improve safety. For instance, the Max Charge and ARS-5 series of Balmar regulators provide the dynamic control of voltage to charge one or several batteries in a safe, quick, and smooth manner, without the risk of battery overheating, excessive stress on a drive belt, or other issues.
