Barton Marine hardware has been setting standards for quality for over 70 years. The company was established in Whitstable, England’s seaside town with great shipwright heritage, back in 1948. Its founder, Ron Barton, was among the first to manufacture sailing blocks out of Tufnol laminate and stainless steel, having pioneered a material composition which resulted in strong yet lightweight construction. Today’s designs feature the same reliability and technical excellence that the brand has been known for while at the same time being cost-effective. Thus, Barton Marine winchers are popular alternatives to much more expensive self-tailing winches. These are specifically designed rubber moldings which are easy to fit over most winches. Their ribbed grooves hold the line similar to the crowns of a self-tailing winch. You don’t need to lock the line in the groove in light to medium air - the rubber underside of the collar grips the line after you coil it around the winch drum all the way up to the top.
